Will Offer $20.00 Prix-Fixe Three-Course Lunch Menus

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Cristyne F. Lategano-Nicholas, President and Chief Executive Officer of NYC & Company, today kicked off the 9th Annual Summer Restaurant Week at Eleven Madison Park Restaurant with Owner and NYC & Company Restaurant Committee Chairman Danny Meyer. Beginning today through this Friday, June 23rd, New Yorkers and visitors alike can enjoy prix-fixe lunches for $20.00 -- beverage, tax and gratuity excluded -- at more than 130 of New York City's top restaurants.

"The Ninth Annual Summer Restaurant Week will offer thousands of New Yorkers and visitors another opportunity to enjoy great food and fine dining at some of the top restaurants in New York City for just $20.00," said Mayor Giuliani. "With more than 18,000 restaurants that serve everything from sushi and steaks to soul food and Spanish cuisine, New York City has it all. This week will further promote New York City's restaurant industry, which helps draw more than 34 million visitors to our City. No other city comes close to offering the exceptional dining experience that New York City does. I encourage all New Yorkers to take advantage of Summer Restaurant Week, as we celebrate New York City's status as The Restaurant Capital of the World."

Ms. Lategano-Nicholas said, "We couldn't be more excited about the unprecedented quality and diversity of this year's Summer Restaurant Week choices. New York City is booming, and Summer Restaurant Week provides the perfect opportunity for food lovers from around the country and the world to get the opportunity to experience the best restaurants in the world for a fraction of the usual price."

Tim Zagat, NYC & Company Chairman and famed restaurant industry publisher, said, "You can't beat three course lunches at the City's best restaurants for only $20. Summer Restaurant Week exemplifies why New York City is generally considered the Best Restaurant City in the World."

This weeklong event, which is designed to promote New York City as The Restaurant Capital of the World, is presented by NYC & Company, American Express and Continental Airlines, and sponsored by Citysearch. Additional support is provided by The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Amtrak, The New York Times, WCBS-AM radio and Foodline.com.
