Fleet Week 2010
NYC Service would like to give a special thank you to the U.S. Navy, Marines and Coast Guard for volunteering their time during Fleet Week. Over 60 military men and women volunteered with eight nonprofits in Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn. Thank you for lending your time, talents and skills to our great City. Volunteer Ventures Expo
NYC Service is proud to partner with the JASA for the Volunteer Ventures Expo 2010. The expo is a free conference and volunteer opportunities fair for adults 50+. JASA is currently seeking organizations that offer volunteer opportunities to adults 50 and older to table at this event. To represent your organization or attend a workshop, contact JASA’s volunteer services department at (212) 273-5291 or volunteer@jasa.org.

Join the NYC Civic Corps
The NYC Civic Corps promotes civic engagement among all New Yorkers, in every neighborhood and across all five boroughs. As AmeriCorps volunteers, NYC Civic Corps members commit one year of full-time service to address NYC's most critical challenges, and receive a monthly stipend and an educational award upon completion of their service year. The 2010-2011 NYC Civic Corps application is now available

National Conference on Volunteering and Service
We are excited to invite you to attend the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in New York City on June 28-30th, 2010. Nationally convened by the Points of Light Institute, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and locally convened by NYC Service and New Yorkers Volunteer, the annual event provides attendees with an opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired through a wide range of exciting and informative plenary sessions, workshops, special events, service projects, exhibits, specialized corporate tracks and more.

As the world's largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, government, and corporate sectors, all are invited to join us in New York. CPR Week 2010 - Get trained!
Summer is the perfect time to take advantage of FDNY CPR To Go- a free, fast, and fun way to learn basic CPR technique. Gain these life-saving skills, keep your free CPR Anytime Training Kit, and pledge to share your skills with others! Free training classes are available at locations across the city. Learn more and sign up!

Brighten up a Senior’s Day with a Phone Call
Telephone Reassurance, an initiative launched by NYC Service and the Department for the Aging, is a service that provides older adults who live alone and/or have limited ability to leave their homes with regularly scheduled telephone calls. Volunteer from your home or your office with just one phone call!

Parks Department Adventures
Join the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation for Adventures NYC, and discover adventure in your own back yard! The Parks Department’s GreenTeam is currently seeking recycling volunteers to help teach event visitors about recycling, compost, and "green" transportation. Volunteer with the Green Team.

Rise Up & Stay Put! Home Rescue Fair
The Center for NYC Neighborhoods (CNYCN) presents the Rise Up & Stay Put! home rescue fair in Brooklyn. CNYCN is reaching out to Brooklyn and Queens homeowners most affected by home foreclosures. They are currently recruiting volunteers to help with registration, crowd control and other activities. Volunteer your time with CNYCN now.
