Lincoln Medical Center is a leader in healthcare and renowned for its Centers of Excellence. Many of our programs are nationally recognized for meeting and or exceeding national benchmarks on quality performance and clinical outcomes. Our Centers of Excellence include New York State (NYS) designated Level 1 Trauma Center, which is considered one of the premier and busiest trauma centers in the country, NYS designated Stroke Center, Diabetes Education and Management Program, Breast Center, and NYS designated AIDS Center. These Centers provide exceptional quality services in modern, state of the art facilities. Our Centers of Excellence have received numerous awards and special designations.
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Lincoln Hospital has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy). Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
Regional Level 1 Trauma Center
Lincoln's highly credentialed and expert team of board certified clinicians deliver comprehensive services to over 160,000 patients per year in New York City's busiest single site Emergency Department. Emergency services are provided using state-of-the-art specialty intensive care units (surgical, medical, coronary care, pediatric and neonatal), cutting edge technology, and the most advanced quality patient care available.
Designated Stroke Center
Lincoln's designation as a Stroke Center ensures that patients exhibiting symptoms of stroke are evaluated quickly and receive the urgent treatment required to prevent permanent disability or death. Patients undergo rapid testing, analysis and treatment, providing the best chance for complete recovery. Our dedicated stroke team provides these specialty services seven days a week, 24-hours a day. The team includes neurosurgeons, radiologists, emergency physicians, neurologists, rehabilitation therapists and nurses.
The Stroke Center's new Vascular Neurosurgery Program provides critical care to patients who present with ruptured aneurysms (burst blood vessels). This program enables patients to receive rapid care to repair damage from blood in the brain before some or all functioning is lost.
Diabetes Center of Excellence
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) designated Lincoln as a Diabetes Center of Excellence. Our specialized education program focuses on type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Patients learn how to control obesity and the prevention of complications from the disease. Patients diagnosed with diabetes may take advantage of frequent classes staffed with bilingual instructors who have fashioned a curriculum that takes into account culturally influenced health beliefs, attitudes and practices. There are also specialized clinics and certified diabetes educators for pediatric, pregnant and adult diabetics. This program provides self management education services that meet or exceed national standards.
Breast Center Accreditation
Lincoln Medical Center received Breast Center accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Lincoln's Breast Center is the only NAPBC accredited Breast Center in New York City and 1 of 5 in New York State. Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and performance review.
