Darisa Cruz, Bronx Borough Commissioner

Darisa Cruz was appointed Bronx Borough Commissioner in March 2026. In this role, she serves as the principal liaison for NYC DOT’s work in the Bronx and manages relationships with external stakeholders and agency partners in the borough. She advises executive staff on policy issues and collaborates with colleagues to ensure safety projects and agency operations are executed.

Ms. Cruz first joined the agency in 2017 as a Borough Planner for the Bronx office. Her career at NYC DOT has been spent in the Bronx ensuring that quality investments are equitably distributed in the borough. Over the years, she has seen the expansion and creation of NYC DOT initiatives such as Citi bike, Scooter Share, Dining Out NYC, Open Streets, and many Vision Zero initiatives. She has worked closely with community stakeholders and agency partners to address issues and advance the agency’s mission.

Ms. Cruz began her career in the Bronx as the Topographic Planner at the Bronx Borough President’s Office. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Manhattan College.
