City
To Hold Rowboat Auction
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be holding
a sealed bid auction of rowboats, which have been removed from City-owned
reservoirs on both sides of the Hudson River. The boats are being auctioned
in lots ranging in size from 9 to 10 boats, and sealed bids will be opened
on August 9th. Individuals interested in bidding will receive a "Bid
Packet" that outlines the procedure for submitting a bid.
Inspection of the boats is strongly suggested. Inspection is strictly
by appointment only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m.
and 1 p.m. Appointments to inspect the boats may be made by contacting the
locations listed below:
One lot of ten boats at DEP Protection Unit Trailer, NYS Route 30,
Downsville, NY 13755 - Telephone: 607-363-7009;
One lot of nine boats at DEP Protection Unit Trailer, NYS Route 42,
Grahamsville, NY 12740 - Telephone: 845-985-2524; and,
14 lots of nine or ten boats at DEP's Mahopac Waste Water Treatment
Plant, 54 Croton Falls Road, Mahopac, NY 10541 - Telephone: 845-628-5813.
The rowboats had been used by private citizens for fishing on the City's
reservoirs. The boats have been made available for auction, because they were
placed illegally at the reservoirs or their permits had expired and had not
been renewed. All boats have been removed and held in compliance with the
New York State Personal Property Law before being sold at relinquishment auction,
including notice to owners where information is available.
