Introduction to the Tier 2 Retirement Process

Service & Vested

Keep in mind, 30 Days’ notice is required to file for Tier 2 Vested and Service retirements. The clock starts on the day of your appointment with us. So, if you’re looking to retire right away, contact us now! We’ll walk you through the entire retirement process. And we’ll give you copies of all the instructions and forms you need.

Disability

Has the Board of Trustees approved you for a disability pension? (The day after the Board meets and approves your case, your name will appear on the Finest Disability Pension Board Notification.) And are you still an active member? If so, the Introduction and retirement process Steps listed below apply to you.

Do you need to apply for a disability pension? If so, you must first contact the NYPD Medical Division. The following numbers can be used to speak to a Union representative assigned to the Medical Division, specifically to guide and advise members on the disability application process:
