Good evening New Yorkers,

In the “City That Never Sleeps,” we never stop fighting for you. Whether it’s ensuring working-class New Yorkers get their fair share or using innovative solutions to create more housing, we’re “Getting Stuff Done” for you and our city 24/7. Here’s how we delivered for you this week:

Putting money back in your pocket – We successfully fought to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit for the first-time in 20 years, and thanks to our efforts, I’m proud to report that we put $345 million back into the pockets of over 746,000 working-class New Yorkers this past tax season through the expanded credit. We will continue to support working-class New Yorkers every day with city services like Free Tax Prep and free financial counseling.
Finding land to create new housing – I’ve promised to use every tool available to solve our affordable housing crisis, and that’s why today I signed an executive order requiring city agencies to review their city-owned land for potential housing opportunities. If there’s even a chance that land under our control can be used for housing, our administration will take action.
Holding deceptive companies accountable – We announced a lawsuit against a well-known parking app, Way.com, that put New Yorkers in harm’s way by pointing them to dozens of unlicensed, dangerous garages and that used deceptive pricing tactics. We will not tolerate any company that puts people in danger, and we’ll continue to ensure there are safeguards to protect both public safety and the pocketbooks of hard-working New Yorkers.

Kids 18 and younger can enjoy free summer meals for one more week this summer! NYC’s free breakfast and lunch program provides young New Yorkers with delicious, healthy, and convenient meals at no cost through August 30. Find a location near you!
We have just over two weeks left of NYC's summer swimming season! If you’ve been looking to hit the beach on our 14 miles of beautiful shoreline or take a dip at one of our 50+ public outdoor pools, make sure to do so through September 8.
New York State has already returned $19 billion through its unclaimed funds program, and there’s a chance you are eligible as well! This program helps people find funds they may have forgotten about, including old banks accounts, court funds, dividends, and more. Search for your unclaimed funds now.
