Good evening New Yorkers,
Week after week, our administration works day and night to make this a safer, more affordable city for you and your family. Through our bold investments and data-backed strategies, the results show we’re getting it done. Here’s how we delivered for you this past week: |
- Building a Harbor of the Future – After decades of delays, we are finally removing a decommissioned jail barge from the Bronx and building a new Hunts Point Marine Terminal there that will help move cargo from ships to your door. For hundreds of years, New York City’s waterways have powered our economy. Now, we’re turning them into a “Harbor of the Future,” creating 53,000 temporary and permanent jobs and $95 billion in economic impact.
- Taking 100,000 illegal vehicles off our streets – Since the start of this administration, we’ve removed over 100,000 illegal vehicles from city streets, including unregistered “ghost cars,” e-scooters, mopeds, and ATVs. Getting these dangerous vehicles off our streets doesn’t just improve our quality of life. It’s led to significant decreases (57.2%) in crime committed on mopeds compared to this time last year.
- Celebrating 400 years of NYC with free events – To commemorate our city’s 400th anniversary this year, we’re hosting free events all summer long! These include NYC-themed movie nights in parks, performances by Broadway stars, our largest Summer Streets yet with 400 blocks opened for pedestrians, and much more. And that’s not all! As part of our “Best Budget Ever,” we’re making historic investments in our world-class museums, performance centers, gardens, and more to ensure they have the funds needed to thrive.

↳ Three things to know this week:
- NYC’s free outdoor pools open for the season in just two weeks! Starting on June 27th, our family-friendly pools will be open daily from 11AM to 7PM across the five boroughs. Be sure to also check out our elevated “Cool Pools,” which have free poolside sports and activities, cabanas, lounge chairs, murals, fitness classes, and more.
- We’re giving free air conditioners and fans to low-income New Yorkers ahead of the hot summer months. Our Cooling Assistance program covers your costs so you can beat the heat without breaking your budget. Check your eligibility now!
- The Animal Care Centers of NYC need your help providing loving homes to their adorable animals up for adoption! If you can open your home temporarily to a four-legged New Yorker, explore becoming a foster pet parent. If you’re ready to give a fur baby a fur-ever home, learn more about their adoption process.
