Good evening New Yorkers,
As part of our core mission to protect public safety, rebuild our economy, and make our city more livable, I’m proud to share that America’s safest big city has gotten even safer. Last week, we announced that crime is down *again* compared to last year, including fewer homicides, burglaries, shootings, and transit crimes. Here's how else we delivered for you this week:

Combatting the youth vaping epidemic – I stood alongside Attorney General Letitia James to announce that our city is receiving over $27 million to help fund programs that will keep our young people safe and healthy. Thanks to a major settlement with a leading vape company that targeted our children, we are taking millions away from nicotine-pushers and reinvesting it in prevention, education, and enforcement efforts.
Powering a clean city for generations – We broke ground on the nation’s largest offshore wind port to create a cleaner, greener city. This South Brooklyn Marine Terminal green energy facility will create thousands of “green-collar” jobs, turn New York into a “Harbor of the Future,” and generate 810 megawatts of renewable energy for our city. That’s enough energy to power 500,000 homes!

Building tomorrow’s workforce like never before – In our “State of the City” address last year, we set a moonshot goal of delivering 30,000 apprenticeships by 2030. This week, we celebrated that we have already connected 14,000 New Yorkers with apprenticeships and employment across industries, including apprenticeships in the public sector, green economy, tech, business, and health care fields. Thanks to our efforts, we’re already ahead of schedule! Explore career opportunities here.

Have a wonderful last weekend of spring, New York. As many New Yorkers enjoy time off on Wednesday for Juneteenth, let us reflect on the importance of this holiday. Juneteenth is a commemoration of our country’s effective end to slavery and the long march to justice for Black Americans.
If you’re looking for ways to celebrate, learn, or reflect on Juneteenth, check out these free events organized by NYC Parks and the New York Public Library. Your mayor, Eric Text me: (917) 909-2288
