Good evening New Yorkers,
As you may have heard, this week finally marked the end of a dark chapter in our city’s history. I want to thank all of the New Yorkers who stood by me, prayed for me, and supported me, while we focused on our work at hand. You can watch my message to New Yorkers here.
Every day, everywhere, we’re continuing to deliver a safer, more affordable city for you and your loved ones — no matter what else has been going on. From driving down crime to record lows to helping put hundreds of millions of dollars back into the pockets of working-class New Yorkers, we’re fulfilling our commitments to you and making the greatest city in the world even better.
As we do week after week, here’s how we delivered for you and your 8.5 million neighbors: |

- Achieving historic crime reductions – We’re continuing to drive down crime and make America’s safest big city even safer. The first three months of the year saw the lowest number of shootings of any quarter in recorded history. We also had the second-lowest number of murders in history, subway crime dropped by double digits, and major crime declined in all five boroughs. Thanks to our efforts and investments, crime continues to plummet across the city.
- Making our streets safer – We’re also making streets safer for all by expanding the city’s network of red-light cameras. This builds on our state-level advocacy work to greatly increase the cap on the number of intersection cameras across the five boroughs — now giving us the largest automated traffic enforcement program in the country. Traffic deaths are at a historic low in our city thanks to our safety infrastructure investments, but our work continues to reduce traffic violence.
- Delivering for NYC's delivery workers – The city’s $21.44/hour minimum pay-rate for app-based restaurant delivery workers is now in full effect. Our first-of-its-kind program will deliver hundreds of millions of dollars back into the pockets of workers who deliver for us 24/7 and is one of the many ways our administration is putting money back in the pockets of hard-working New Yorkers. Delivery workers can learn more here or call 311 and say, “delivery worker,” for more information.

↳ Three things to know this week:
|
|
|
- Dining out isn’t just a meal. It symbolizes NYC’s vibrant culture. Outdoor dining season is here, and New Yorkers can, once again, enjoy a meal outside at nearly 2,450 roadway and sidewalk setups across the city! Our “Dining Out NYC” initiative reimagines public space and is more than two-and-a-half times the size of NYC’s pre-COVID sidewalk dining. We’ll be adding more participating eateries in the weeks and months to come. Interested restaurants can apply here!
- Composting rules are now in effect citywide! Starting April 1, homeowners and buildings found mixing compostable materials — including food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard waste — in their regular trash will be fined. Be sure to learn the ins and outs of composting in NYC, and get a free compost bin decal if you’re using your own (not city distributed) compost bin!
- We talk a lot about getting money back in New Yorkers’ pockets, and we want you to be one of those New Yorkers! We have an easy-to-use website with dozens of money-saving programs you should know about, including free internet, discounted subway and bus rides, free college planning for students, and more.
