Good evening New Yorkers, What a week to be a New Yorker! The New York Liberty made history with their first-ever WNBA championship win, the Yankees are World Series-bound, and the Amazin’ Mets inspired us all season long. When we weren’t cheering on our city’s incredible teams this week, here’s how we delivered for you: |

Making NYC a City of “Yes” – Our “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity” plan will tackle our city’s generational housing shortage, modernize outdated zoning laws, and help build up to 108,000 new homes. After being approved by the City Planning Commission last month, our plan made its way to the City Council this week, where a broad coalition of New Yorkers voiced their support for this critical plan. Now, we need our city councilmembers to say “yes” to the most significant pro-housing reform ever and building crucial housing across our city.
Investing in our libraries – We broke ground on a $7.4 million modernization of the Hollis Library in Queens. This renovation will equip the library with new reading rooms, more computer space, natural lighting, upgraded restrooms, and more. Our libraries are the hearts of our communities, especially for low-income New Yorkers, which is why we have already invested more than $300 million in our libraries and have committed nearly $900 million more in our 2025-2028 Capital Plan.
-
Finalizing NYC’s e-bike trade-in program – We’re investing $2 million into a first-in-the-nation municipal pilot program for qualified food delivery workers to trade in unsafe e-bikes for certified, high-quality devices for free. Our top priority is keeping New Yorkers safe, and our efforts thus far are working to lower injuries and deaths this year. This trade-in pilot program will build on these promising results and get more deadly batteries out of our communities.
