New Yorkers, hello from City Hall!
Every day, everywhere, we continue to deliver for you. Our 300,000-plus-person team works day and night to ensure that the “City That Never Sleeps” stays safe, gets even more affordable, and remains the best place to raise your family, with our efforts like… |

- Getting crime down across the city – America’s safest big city continues to get even safer. Crime continues to drop by double digits across the five boroughs, both above and below ground, but to make our city even safer and continue the third month of double-digit declines in crime, we need 8.5 million New Yorkers to act as our force multipliers. Remember: if you see something, say something. Call 911 if you witness a crime or someone in danger. That’s how we keep each other safe and help crime continue to drop.
- Advocating to abolish New Yorkers’ income tax – Alongside our state partners, labor unions, and nonprofits, we’re continuing to fight to eliminate personal income taxes for 429,600 New Yorkers and reduce taxes for another 152,000! See if you're eligible for our “Axe the Tax for the Working-Class” proposal.
- Expanding FREE swim lesson access for kids – The city is investing another $5.5 million to help nearly 18,000 young New Yorkers learn how to swim for free! This initiative is run by NYC Parks, and it targets underserved communities to reach young New Yorkers of all backgrounds and help our city’s working-class families save over $1.3 million on swim lessons. Check out all of NYC Parks’ swim programs here, including school holiday week programs!

...the NYC Department of Buildings inspects the rides on Coney Island before the season begins? Every year, their “Elevator Unit” makes sure the century-old amusement park’s 50+ rides, inflatables, and elevators are safe for visitors. They inspect every component of a ride, big and small, such as the seatbelts and motors. The inspection process can sometimes take days depending on the ride!
Coney Island’s attractions open up again on April 13. Here’s how to make the most of a day on Coney Island!
