As New York City prepares to host matches for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, certain areas will be subject to security-related restrictions and temporary filming limitations.

The NYC Mayor’s Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management (CECM) is implementing strict, unprecedented construction and special event embargoes this summer (mid-May to mid-July) to accommodate 2026 FIFA World Cup matches. Key areas, including areas near Midtown and potential fan zones, are prioritizing event security, crowd management, and transportation flow.

Productions planning to film in or near stadium perimeters, designated fan zones, or key transportation corridors should anticipate restricted access and limited permit availability during designated embargo periods.

Additional guidance and dates will be shared as they are finalized. Early coordination with the Film Office is strongly encouraged.
