Summer Rising Grades K-8 Programs

Summer Rising is New York City’s free school-based summer program for any City child in grades K–8. Summer Rising will integrate the strengths of DOE academics with the Department of Youth & Community Development’s (DYCD) school-based enrichment programming. Students in grades K–8 will get outside, learn, and engage with peers and caring adults in safe supervised, and enriching ways. These programs will provide a bridge to the next school year and allow students to reconnect with one another and with their schools. Students will address unfinished learning while being provided avenues for recreation, exploration, and fun.

Gender Justice: Dismantling Social Hierarchy

We the Youth Advisory Council will lead another great live interactive discussion, this time on Gender Justice, the systemic redistribution of power, opportunities (resources), and access for all marginalized people. This youth-led event will look at harmful structures of sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and patriarchy that have stifled the freedom for people to be who they choose to be, where they want to work, how much they are compensated, and where they can live safely without the burden of bigotry and inequality. Tune in as we hear from young people that are “finding the freedom to no longer allow others to decide how we are defined or place us in societal cages that hinder our abilities".
Join us live for the 6th We the YOUTH, You the People Virtual Youth Town Hall. “Gender Justice: Dismantling Social Hierarchy”
Wednesday, May 12th, 5 PM–7 PM

DYCD Community Moms Celebration

The NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) invites you to join us as we celebrate our 2021 DYCD Community Mom awardees. Our #DYCDCommunity Moms campaign celebrates mothers and other caretakers who provide inspiration and support to families and communities. These community moms—whether volunteers, mentors, teachers, community leaders, healthcare staff, essential workers, caregivers, aunts, sisters, or mothers—dedicate their time and energy to the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our city, and we hope you'll help us celebrate them this May 13th.  Click here to RSVP
