NYC Youth Agenda

The youth of NYC are tired of decisions being made for them without consenting them. The youth agenda was developed to inform future funding priorities, programming, and policies. Last month, we held a youth-led Mayoral Town Hall, which provided #NYCYouth with the opportunity to discuss the issues they want the next NYC Mayor to prioritize! Check out the website we launched that offers more information about the We the YOUTH, You the People virtual town hall series, the Youth Agenda and how young people and youth allies can endorse it, and profiles of the extraordinary young people who helped make this all possible. Visit bit.ly/NYCYouthAgenda today! Can you Walk the Talk? Endorse the youth agenda and share it with your youth networks. It is time to demonstrate collective impact of youth voice.

Saturday Night Lights

Saturday Night Lights (SNL) is a youth development and violence prevention program that activates city spaces on Saturday nights from 5:00 – 9:00 pm providing free high-quality sports and fitness training for youth ages 11-18.  SNL began in 2011 when the Manhattan DA partnered with NYPD and other law enforcement agencies to provide resources for youth to participate in structured sport activities and to increase the opportunity for positive interactions with local law enforcement.  In partnership with NYPD and the District Attorney offices, DYCD launched the citywide SNL program expansion on July 10, 2021. Beacon, Cornerstone, and sports-based CBOs will operate 100 SNL program locations on Saturday nights to provide youth with a Sports-Based Youth Development framework that activates safe spaces, builds trust, and leverages resources! Harlem Week 2021

HARLEM WEEK is an annual celebration of the best of Harlem which works to promote its rich African-American, African, Caribbean, Hispanic, and European history, as well as arts, culture, religion, business, entertainment, and sports. HARLEM WEEK began in 1974 as HARLEM DAY, a one-day event of encouragement and fellowship in Harlem for New Yorkers and beyond. Given the huge success of the celebration, additional days were added to showcase the community’s rich economic, political, and cultural history. During our 46 years of producing HARLEM WEEK, the event has grown from a one-day event to a month-long festival and now, as an eight-day live and virtual event. We look forward to you joining us this year to experience the 47th Annual HARLEM WEEK as we celebrate with our theme: Rebirth. Rebuild. Rejoice.
