Sexual Violence Awareness and Denim Day

April 2021 marks the official 20th anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Even before its official declaration, SAAM was about awareness and prevention of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse. In recognition of SAAM, this month's DYCD Barbershop will be co-hosted with the Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence and feature Ted Bunch from A CALL TO MEN and Quentin Walcott from the NYC organization CONNECT. Subscribe to the official DYCD YouTube page to watch the event on Tuesday, April 27.

DYCD Community Moms

The NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) invites you to help us celebrate Mother's Day this May by nominating a "community mom" for our annual award. Our #DYCDCommunityMoms campaign celebrates mothers and other caretakers who provide inspiration and support to families and communities. These community moms—whether volunteers, mentors, teachers, community leaders, healthcare staff, essential workers, caregivers, aunts, sisters, or mothers—dedicate their time and energy to the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our city, and we hope you'll help us celebrate them this May.
