Y15 SESSION 14
TODAY'S MISSION
Have you ever wondered what makes some people seem so confident? Usually, it’s about knowing yourself and communicating who you are and what you stand for. Sometimes it’s literally about how you stand in your body while you talk with others.
There is so much to communicating who you are and what is important to you. Building from Session 3, today you will explore communication skills for workplace success and reflect on the many ways you communicate to others.

Remember, joining a workplace means joining a team, and cultivating your style will support your project this summer and your career journey.
PORTFOLIO STEP 2
Next, watch the famous Ted Talk “Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are” to understand ways that you can communicate your power through your body language. While you’re watching it, stand up and take a turn doing all the poses proposed.
What did you learn about yourself? What’s one of your power poses?
PORTFOLIO STEP 3
Finally, create a 2-minute TED Talk of your own about your communication style. Check out this link to 8 steps to run a great TED Talk. After you have read through the 8 steps, draft your own 2-minute TED Talk. Write it out, practice it, and record yourself talking for two minutes about something you feel strongly about.
