Below are a list of anchor resources and sample projects to support an investigation of the Census.

ANCHOR RESOURCE:

📋The United States Census Bureau has an overview of all the learning resources available through the US Census website Statistics in the Schools. Organized by subject and grade level, it's easy to select activities based on learning objectives, topic or skills taught.

📋The Census Project is a broad-based coalition of national, state, and local organizations that support an inclusive and accurate 2020 Census and American Community Survey (ACS) (the modern version of the census “long form”). Its member organizations, representing the private, public, non-profit, and academic sectors, rely on objective data that the Census Bureau produces to inform evidence-based investment, policy and planning decisions.

📋Sharemylesson is a free site (you do need subscribe) that provides access to thousands of lesson plans and activities. The section on the Census provides information on current issues.

Instructional Resources

📋Statistics in the School is the Census’ classroom resource initiative, and this section of the site is devoted to resources for remote learning around the 2020 Census. It includes activities that use Census data to support understanding and investigation.

📋Population Education provides activities to further understanding of the Census, divided by age group (includes MS and HS). The site includes activities adapted for remote learning, that can support larger project goals.

Sample Project

📋The Census Coloring Book is an example of a project that is good for all ages. The coloring book could be adapted or you could create your own.
