The deadline to register to vote and participate in the November General Election is this Friday, October 8. Register now at DemocracyNYC.turbovote.org. Early Voting runs from October 23-31 and Election Day is November 2.

Election Administration Matters!

Join DemocracyNYC and Women Creating Change for a discussion on proposed reforms to the New York City Board of Elections to better serve NYC voters on Wednesday, October 6, 1 PM - 2 PM. We have assembled a powerhouse panel: Dr. Hazel Dukes, President of the NY State NAACP; State Senator Liz Kreuger; Chisun Lee of the Brennan Center; Xamayla Rose, Deputy Public Advocate for Civic and Community Empowerment; and Assembly Member Nily Rozic. Multilingual Voter Education Workshops

DemocracyNYC and NYC Votes, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and all three of the New York library systems (BPL, NYPL, and QPL) are hosting a series of multilingual workshops throughout October to prepare voters for the General Election in Spanish, Bangla, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, and Hindi. The first one is this Thursday, October 7 at 6 PM in Spanish. Register here and sign up for upcoming multilingual workshops here.

Join "The People's Money": Participatory Budgeting Survey

The City of New York is investing $1.3M to support recovery in the 33 neighborhoods hardest hit by COVID-19. These neighborhoods have been identified by New York City’s Taskforce for Racial Inclusion and Equity and belong to a larger citywide coalition called TRIE Neighborhood Coalitions. If you live in any of these communities, you will get to decide how to invest $40K of public funds through a participatory process. These investments will support your community and contribute to a more equitable recovery. Access the social media toolkit to share information about the survey and process. The deadline to participate in the survey is October 15, 2021.

  • October 6: NYC Votes is hosting Know Your Voting Rights town hall event with BRIC, featuring Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Esmerelda Simmons, Michelle Bishop of the National Disability Rights Network, Lucia Gomez of the NYC Central Labor Council, Victor Pate of the NY Campaign for Alternatives to Isolated Confinement; NYS Assembly Member Latrice Walker; and Omar Suarez, Director of Partnerships and Outreach for the CFB.
