This past week, Mayor Adams announced "Benefits on Your Block". This citywide initiative brings City resources to the doorsteps of New Yorkers, as "We Outside Summer" continues. The summer-long "Benefits on Your Block" initiative will encompass a range of events, including quality-of-life walk-throughs to address resident concerns, benefit information forums at Older Adult Centers, pop-up resource stations offering job training, small business help, and more. This week Mayor Adams announced the citywide expansion of the "Every Block Counts" program, continuing the mayor's commitment to public safety and quality-of-life.
Lastly, the Rise Up Concert series begins this weekend! It will feature ten free concerts reflecting various music genres across all five boroughs. For more information and full concert schedule, go here.

Benefits on Your Block
From July through October, the NYC Public Engagement Unit is hosting free community resource and benefit enrollment fairs every Saturday in neighborhoods across all five boroughs. At each event, residents can get screened for benefits, apply for programs on-site, and connect with City resources and services. For more information on resources you can access, go here. NYC Service Youth Action 50 Program Launch
Youth Action 50
NYC Service is excited to launch the Youth Action 50 (YA50) program! YA50 will award $1,000 mini-grants to 50 diverse, youth-led groups to develop innovative community solutions.
Participants will complete community action projects, receive mentorship from city government advisors, and connect with city leaders to turn ideas into advocacy and policy recommendations—ensuring youth voices are heard and included in shaping the systems that affect their lives.

The Mayor’s Office of Animal Welfare has launched an Events Calendar! This public resource is designed to raise awareness about animal-related events and initiatives throughout New York City, including opportunities to meet pets available for adoption, learn about other species that call the Big Apple home, help our furry and feathered friends, and more.

Most Pro-Housing Administration in City History: Mayor Adams, HPD, Institute for Community Living Advance 103 Units of Affordable and Supportive Housing in Brooklyn to Help Parents Experiencing Mental Health Challenges Reunite With Their Children
Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) Acting Commissioner Ahmed Tigani, and the Institute for Community Living (ICL) announced that construction will begin on a redevelopment of the Emerson-Davis Family Residence, a one-of-a-kind supportive housing model that helps parents living with serious mental illness (SMI) or substance use disorder (SUD) stay connected with or reunify with their children. The new 11-story, 103-unit development at 161 Emerson Place in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn — a high-opportunity neighborhood — will replace the outdated structure that ICL has operated for nearly 30 years.
Mayor Adams Continues “We Outside Summer” by Announcing 11 Schoolyards to Open to Public as Part of “Schoolyards to Playgrounds” Program
Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos, and New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks) Commissioner Iris Rodriguez-Rosa announced the opening of 11 new sites in the city’s “Schoolyards to Playgrounds” program, delivering on another key commitment of Mayor Adams’ 2025 State of the City. Schoolyards to Playgrounds increases access to green space for New Yorkers in neighborhoods not within walking distance of a park by opening up schoolyards to the public when not in use by the school — during the summer, after school, and on the weekends.
