Dear Fellow New Yorker,
We hope you had a meaningful Memorial Day. Mayor Adams was honored to lay a wreath at the Intrepid Museum to mark Memorial Day alongside the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.
This past week, Mayor Adams hosted a Community Conversation town hall in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The event provided a platform for the community to voice their concerns to the Mayor, members of his administration, and city agencies. This continues the Mayor's commitment to directly engage with the community. Mayor Adams also hosted a Pakistani roundtable meeting. It was an opportunity to meet with community leaders and members to discuss ways we can continue serving our City together.
Finally, the mayor raised the African Union flag this past Sunday, along with a diverse group of African community leaders. The African Union (AU) is a continental union made up of all 55 African nation-states. New York City is a proud home of the largest concentration of Africans in the US.

Mayor Adams Celebrates City Council Approval of Administration's Plan to Create 4,600 new Homes, 2,800 Permanent Jobs Along Atlantic Avenue Corridor in Central Brooklyn
Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Department of City Planning (DCP) Director and City Planning Commission (CPC) Chair Dan Garodnick celebrated the New York City Council’s approval of the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan, the second DCP-led neighborhood plan approved under the Adams administration. The plan will bring approximately 4,600 homes — including 1,900 income-restricted, affordable homes — and 2,800 permanent jobs to the Atlantic Avenue corridor near Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant, where outdated zoning rules have long limited housing and job growth.
Mayor Adams Kicks Off "We Outside Summer" by Announcing new Effort to Transform Vacant, Abandoned Lots Into Greenspace Across New York City
Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Departments of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks) Commissioner Sue Donoghue announced a new effort to transform vacant, abandoned lots into green space for New Yorkers and put more residents of the five boroughs within walking distance of a park. Since taking office, the Adams administration has committed a total of $80 million to expand New Yorkers’ access to the citywide greenspace network — $50 million has already been spent over the past three years to acquire new parkland in all five boroughs, adding over 86 acres of parkland and bringing greenspace within a 10-minute walk of an additional 37,000 New Yorkers.
Mayor Adams Announces New Investments, Totaling Over $400 Million, to Fully Fund Transformation of Fifth Avenue Into World-Class, Pedestrian Centered Boulevard as Part of “Best Budget Ever”
Mayor Eric Adams announced that total investments of over $400 million to fully fund the city and the Future of Fifth Partnership's plan to transform Fifth Avenue — between Bryant Park and Central Park — into a world-class, pedestrian-centered boulevard, cementing the iconic corridor's status as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation in New York City. Mayor Adams is providing an additional $250 million in new investments today to build on the $152.7 million initial investment he first announced in December 2024. Part of Mayor Adams’ Fiscal Year 2026 Executive Budget — referred to often as the city’s “Best Budget Ever” — the total $402 million project represents the first major redesign in the avenue's 200-year history and is projected to pay for itself in less than five years through increased property and sales tax revenue.
