Dear Fellow New Yorker,
As November begins, we continue to honor the communities, cultures, and partnerships that make New York City a beacon of unity and resilience. Each gathering, celebration, and conversation reminds us that our city’s greatest strength lies in our shared commitment to one another.
Last week, we celebrated Día de los Muertos at Gracie Mansion — honoring a rich tradition that reminds us to cherish and remember loved ones who have passed while celebrating the vibrancy of life and culture. We also marked Uzbek Heritage at Gracie Mansion, recognizing the contributions and enduring spirit of New Yorkers of Uzbek descent.
In Lower Manhattan we joined the community to honor the lives lost and those affected by the tragic terrorist attack along the West Side Highway eight years ago — a solemn reminder of our city’s unity, strength, and resolve to stand against hate in all its forms.
At Bowling Green, we proudly raised the flags of Türkiye and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, celebrating the global connections that enrich our city. Each flag raising stands as a symbol of friendship and a reminder that New York City’s diversity continues to inspire us all.
We also hosted the final Faith in Your Borough event in Brooklyn — the 18th in this citywide series connecting faith leaders with vital city resources. Led by the Mayor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships, this initiative strengthens collaboration between government and the faith community to better support New Yorkers across all five boroughs.
As we enter this season of gratitude, we remain thankful for the people and partnerships that make our city stronger each day. May this month inspire continued acts of service, unity, and compassion across every community in New York City.

All the best, Fred Kreizman Commissioner, Community Affairs Unit Office of the Mayor
