Dear Fellow New Yorker,
As we move further into November, the spirit of community and connection continues to shine brightly throughout our city. From vibrant cultural celebrations to powerful acts of service and remembrance, New York City remains a living testament to the strength that comes from unity in diversity. Each day, we see neighbors coming together, communities uplifting one another, and partnerships across all five boroughs working to make our city stronger, fairer, and more compassionate.
Last week, it was truly inspiring to see more than 2 million New Yorkers participate in our municipal elections — the highest turnout since 1969. This record-setting engagement is a powerful reminder of how much your voice matters in shaping our city’s future. As we move forward, we are carrying that same civic energy into the work ahead. Mayor Adams remains committed to a smooth and collaborative transition, ensuring that the incoming administration is well-prepared to continue building on the progress we’ve made to protect our city, strengthen our economy, and support working families.
As we observe Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice safeguard the very freedoms that define our way of life — the freedom to live safely, to learn and grow, to serve our communities, and to make our voices heard at the ballot box. We recognize that their service often comes with great personal and family sacrifice, and we are forever grateful for their commitment to protecting our democracy and the values we hold dear.
As we look ahead to the rest of November and the season of gratitude, let us continue to reflect on what unites us as New Yorkers — our shared resilience, compassion, and belief in a better tomorrow. Whether through service, civic engagement, or simply showing kindness to a neighbor, each of us has the power to strengthen the fabric of our city. Together, we will continue to honor our communities, support one another, and build a New York City that reflects the best of who we are.
For the latest updates, follow CAU on Twitter and Facebook,
All the best, Fred Kreizman Commissioner, Community Affairs Unit Office of the Mayor
