New Borough Commissioners

The Department is drawing from its deep bench of Registered Design Professionals in a staff reorganization of our borough leadership teams. These moves put talented and effective leaders in important positions to oversee safe and Code compliant development throughout our City.

Reda Shehata, R.A. is now Brooklyn and Staten Island Borough Commissioner. In this expanded role as the "Verrazzano Commissioner", he will oversee development and construction in both boroughs. This is a return to Brooklyn for Reda, who previously served as a Deputy Borough Commissioner there. Most recently he served as Queens Borough Commissioner.

Ira Gluckman, R.A. is now Queens Borough Commissioner. Ira has extensive experience in leadership roles at the Department, having served as Borough Commissioner in Brooklyn, Queens and most recently in Staten Island. In this role in Queens, Ira will oversee development and construction in our City's largest and most diverse borough.

Lisa Amoia, R.A. is now Staten Island Deputy Borough Commissioner. In this new role, Lisa will be the face of DOB on Staten Island. She already has significant experience working on projects on Staten Island for DOB, having led the Department's Build it Back unit to help New Yorkers rebuild after Superstorm Sandy, and running point for the agency on interagency initiatives as an Assistant Commissioner. Lisa most recently served as Manhattan Deputy Borough Commissioner.
