DOB is Launching a Remote Video Inspections Pilot Program

The Department is piloting Remote Video Inspections (RVI) from March 19 – April 30, 2021 for certain inspection types using digital video technology. Read our Service Notice for more details.

This voluntary program will replace the in-person inspections for the following:

  • Construction Final Inspections in Staten Island

  • Rescission of Stop Work Orders issued for Construction Work Without Permit in Brooklyn

Eligible applicants and owners can request to take part in the pilot program when scheduling an inspection and will also be given the option to participate by Department staff when an eligible inspection is requested.

What's needed to participate: A DOB Remote Video Inspection (RVI) Request and Attestation Form will be required to participate. Once a remote inspection is scheduled, unit staff will provide more details and instructions for using Microsoft Teams prior to the time of inspection. Find out more.
