"The first of three bills before me today is Introductory Number 838, sponsored at the request of the Administration by Council Members Recchia and Wills.

"Introductory Number 838 extends the date for the submission of the Mayor's proposed Executive Budget to the City Council by seven days from April 26, 2012 to May 3, 2012, and extends the date for adoption of the Fiscal Year 2013 budget from June 5, 2012 to June 13, 2012.  Introductory Number 838 also makes corresponding adjustments for other Charter mandated actions required during the budget process, such as the dates for Borough President budget responses, Independent Budget Office budget analysis, and the City Council Executive Budget hearings.  This action is necessary to allow sufficient time to refine the budget proposal prior to submission to the City Council.
