MAYOR BLOOMBERG SIGNS LEGISLATION RENAMING FIFTY SIX THOROUGHFARES AND PUBLIC PLACES

Remarks by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws

"The first of seven bills before me today is Introductory Number 590-A, sponsored by Council Members Arroyo, Barron, Chin, Dickens, Dromm, Eugene, Ferreras, Fidler, Gentile, Gonzalez, Greenfield, Halloran, Jackson, Koo, Koppell, Koslowitz, Lander, Levin, Mark-Viverito, Mendez, Nelson, Recchia, Rodriguez, Rose, Sanders, Ulrich, Vallone, Van Bramer, Vann, Wills and Seabrook.

"Introductory Number 590-A renames fifty-six thoroughfares and public places throughout the City. The first two names I will read are streets named in honor of people who died on September 11, 2001, and although this is a modest gesture, this local law demonstrates the City's commitment to always remember those who perished that day.
