MAYOR BLOOMBERG SIGNS LEGISLATION RENAMING 67 THOROUGHFARES AND PUBLIC PLACES THROUGHOUT THE CITY

Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws

"The first of four bills before me is Introductory Number 428-A, sponsored by Council Members Arroyo, Barron, Brewer, Cabrera, Comrie, Crowley, Dickens, Dilan, Ferreras, Gennaro, Gentile, Gonzalez, Halloran, Ignizio, Mark-Viverito, Nelson, Oddo, Palma, Recchia, Reyna, Rivera, Rodriguez, Rose, Seabrook, Vacca, Vallone, Van Bramer, Vann and Jackson.

"Introductory Number 428-A renames 67 thoroughfares and public places throughout the City.  The first five names I will read are streets named in honor of people who died on September 11, 2001, and although this is a modest gesture, this local law demonstrates the City's commitment to always remember those who perished that day.  I will now read those five names.
