STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON PRESIDENT OBAMA'S CALL FOR COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM

“Today in Washington, I heard the President speak about a problem that nearly everyone agrees threatens the future of our country; our broken immigration system. To remain the world’s leading economic power, we need to keep and attract the best, brightest and hardest working from around the world. And to protect our national security, we need to be in control of which people are entering the country. To do both will require real bi-partisanship, and that’s exactly why mayors and business leaders have joined together to create a Partnership for a New American Economy. In the months ahead, we will be reaching out to both major parties, and all Americans, and asking them to join us in fixing a problem that is vital to our country’s economic future.”
