STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON THE DEATH OF J. BRUCE LLEWELLYN

"J. Bruce Llewellyn was a son of Harlem who became a skilled businessman and entrepreneur at a time when there were few African-Americans at the head of large corporations. He will be remembered most for his success in business, but he was also influential in his work in government and as a philanthropist. He joined David Dinkins to create the prominent group 100 Black Men. His death is a loss, but the life he led is an inspiration to all New Yorkers who want to climb up the economic ladder."
