MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG WISHES NEW YORKERS AN EID-EH SHOMA MOBARAK

"Every spring, New Yorkers of Iranian descent and New Yorkers with heritage from throughout the Middle East come together to celebrate the ancient holiday of Nowruz. Literally translated as 'new day,' the holiday is a moment of renewal, marking the beginning of spring and the start of the New Year. Part of the beauty of the holiday is it is observed by people throughout the world regardless of faith, providing an opportunity for all to come together and celebrate family, friendship and new beginnings over the course of 13 days. To all New Yorkers celebrating, I hope you enjoy this special holiday and Eid-eh Shoma Mobarak."
