MAYOR BLOOMBERG STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF PRESTON ROBERT TISCH

“My thoughts and prayers are with the Tisch family today as New York City joins them in mourning the passing of their beloved Bob Tisch.

“Bob Tisch and his family have long embodied the entrepreneurial spirit that is at the heart of our City and that is revered by the world over.  But as a native of Brooklyn, it was Bob’s commitment to serving the City’s public good that will be memorialized and honored for generations to come.

“Bob Tisch was always working to make us a better City and to exhibit to the world that there is no better place than New York City to live, raise a family and work.

“Bob Tisch led by example: from raising millions to revitalize the athletic fields of City public schools, to serving food to the neediest New Yorkers as President of Meals-on-Wheels, to leading the City’s Convention and Visitors Bureau, the New York City Partnership and helping to establish the Association for a Better New York.

“Bob Tisch was a force guided by a vision and armed with courage and compassion. We mourn his loss and we honor his legacy by continuing his commitment to creating a better future.”
