MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ANNOUNCES THE RESIGNATION OF DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMISSIONER GRETCHEN DYKSTRA

“Gretchen Dykstra has been a tireless consumer advocate for New Yorkers,” said Mayor Bloomberg.  “Gretchen brought a new energy to the Department of Consumer Affairs.  She cut red tape for business and aggressively protected consumers.  In her tenure as Commissioner, Gretchen cracked down on the scourge of fake guns, shepherded in new legislation to make it easier to get a sidewalk café license, increased the number of New Yorkers filing for the Earned Income Tax Credit and doubled the amount of licensed home improvement contractors to our City.  While we will miss her leadership in City Government, I am thrilled she is remaining in public service and will continue to serve the City by heading up the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.”
