“The Department of Investigation has issued a report on the probe I requested into the actions of the Local Conditional Release Commission.  Although the joint criminal investigation with the New York County District Attorney continues, the report makes clear that steps can be taken to make sure the Commission fulfills its legal and ethical obligations to prisoners under its jurisdiction as well as to the people of this City.  The new Chair, Daniel Richman, and the full Commission, will be reviewing the report and its recommendations and I am sure they will take the appropriate actions.

“In addition, today I accepted former Chair Raul Russi’s resignation from the Board of Correction and asked the Law Department, Department of Probation, the Criminal Justice Coordinator, the Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications to assist the Commission in any way possible.”
