MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG APPOINTS KATHERYN C. PATTERSON TO THE NYC CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD AND ALFRED C. CERULLO III TO THE NYC PLANNING COMMISSION

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced today the appointment of Katheryn C. Patterson to the New York City Campaign Finance Board.  Ms. Patterson replaces Alfred C. Cerullo, III, who served on the New York City Campaign Finance Board from 2000 until his recent appointment to the New York City Planning Commission.

"Kitty is a gifted legal professional who has served this City and her community in myriad ways," said Mayor Bloomberg.   "From her role as a Trustee of the Julliard School to working as a teaching volunteer at the American Museum of Natural History, Kitty has dedicated her time and labor to improving the quality of life for New Yorkers.  I am certain that Kitty's real-world experience will enhance the policy and enforcement responsibilities of the Campaign Finance Board."

"It is my honor to serve the people of New York City as a member of the Campaign Finance Board," said Ms. Patterson.  "I intend to rely on my understanding of the law and my concern for improving the public financing of political campaigns. I look forward to working with the other Board members and staff to help shape better policies and ensure the equitable enforcement of the Board's regulations."

From 1986 until 1996, Ms. Patterson was a Partner with the international law firm Coudert Brothers LLP where her area of expertise included cross-border banking and financial transactions.  From 1977 until 1985, Ms. Patterson served as an Associate of Coudert Brothers LLP.  While at Coudert Brothers, Ms. Patterson's management responsibilities included serving for six years as member and two years as chair of the firm's Associates Committee and for two years as a member of the firm's interoffice policy committee.  Ms. Patterson graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1977.  In 1974, Ms. Patterson graduated from Stanford University, Phi Beta Kappa.  Ms. Patterson is married with three children and she and her family live in Manhattan.

Mr. Cerullo is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Grand Central Partnership.  For four years, Mr. Cerullo served as a member of the New York City Council.  Cerullo also served as Commissioners of the Departments of Consumer Affairs and Finance.  Mr. Cerullo was appointed to the City's Planning Commission by the Mayor and approved by the City Council to fill the seat vacated by Joseph B. Rose.

"Fred Cerullo's significant public sector experience and breadth of knowledge will benefit the City Planning Commission enormously," said Mayor Bloomberg.  "Having worked on land use and City policy issues as a legislator, advocate for consumers, custodian of the City's tax revenues and a business leader, Fred's voice will be a valuable addition to the Commission."

"It is truly an honor to receive this appointment with the confidence and support of both the Mayor and the City Council," Mr. Cerullo said. "In a City with a physical landscape as diverse as its people, the New York City Planning Commission has a critical mission to shape the environment with thoughtful and creative policies that are inclusive of the needs of every New Yorker.  It is one of the great privileges of my career to be part of that vital process."
