MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG DELIVERS CASES OF BOTTLED WATER AT NEW YORK CITY FIREHOUSE TO AID VICTIMS OF HURRICANES

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today delivered cases of bottled water to aid victims of the hurricanes that have plagued the Caribbean and West Indies over the last month. New York City Firehouses in all five boroughs are being used as collection points to aid victims of the violent and destructive weather in Haiti, Grenada, Jamaica, Cayman Island, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Bahamas, and Dominican Republic.  The Mayor dropped off several cases of bottled water at Battalion 38/Engine 234/Ladder 123 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

This year’s hurricane season has left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean and West Indies,” said Mayor Bloomberg.  “New Yorkers share a special bond with the victims of these hurricanes and the countries that have been devastated by these storms. Millions of New Yorkers trace their ancestry to Haiti, Grenada, Jamaica, Cayman Island, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Bahamas, and Dominican Republic and they have made important contributions to our City. We have obligation to help those in need.”
