STATEMENT BY MAYOR BLOOMBERG ON GRAND THEFT AUTO

“I am very pleased that Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar Games have rightly decided to alter the content of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and remove offensive statements made by characters in the game which caused great pain in the City’s Haitian community.  This type of hate has no place in our City and as Mayor I will not tolerate it.  I have asked the City’s Human Rights Commission to suspend its investigation while the game is being modified.  I believe that this New York City-based company has gained a greater appreciation for the diversity which makes this City great and hope, as they do, that they will be able to repair their relationship with our vibrant Haitian community.”
