MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG'S STATEMENT
REGARDING PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION PROHIBITING A STRIKE BY TWU

"Today's decision by Judge Spodek sends another clear message to the Transit Workers Union that an illegal strike would have drastic repercussions against the union and its members. I want to commend the MTA for aggressively seeking an injunction against the TWU to prevent it from breaking the Taylor law.

"This is the second major loss for the TWU in court and should demonstrate to their leadership and members that we will hold them accountable for any damage they cause to the people of this City. As I have said, I will do everything in my power to prevent an illegal strike by the TWU. No one has the right to put our lives and our livelihood at risk."
