Chelsea’s STD Clinical services will be moved to the Riverside STD Clinic at 160 W 100th St., New York, NY and will open on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. STD services, clinic days, and hours will remain the same. For more information on the move of Chelsea’s STD services to Riverside STD Clinic, please check the clinic information below.

Health Department STD clinics provide low- to no-cost HIV and STD services. Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis. No appointment is necessary.

Clinic services include STD services for patients with symptoms or at risk of exposure, Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for patients at risk of HIV exposure, emergency contraception, HIV counseling and rapid testing. STD clinics also offer vaccines for Meningitis, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B, as well as screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) for alcohol and drug use.

People in need of primary care only (including a routine STD checkup) will be referred to low- or no-cost services. The number of patients admitted to each clinic depends on clinician availability each day, so some clinics may stop taking patients before closing time.

Please Note: On Wednesday, March 18, 2015, all STD clinics will only be offering HIV and STD testing after noon (12 p.m.) due to a Mandatory Doctors Training. Normal operations will resume March 19, 2015.

Please check the list below for the nearest clinic in your area.

Health Insurance and Billing Practices

The New York City Health Department asks for a fee for STD clinic services given to adults (age 19 and over). The Health Department must ask for insurance or payment for services to meet Medicaid standards and other legal requirements. If you want to use your health insurance to pay for the visit, your insurance plan will be billed. A copayment may be required. If you do not have health insurance or do not want your insurance billed for the visit, you will be asked to pay a sliding scale fee based on your family size and yearly income. You will not be asked for proof of family size or yearly income. No payments will be collected at the clinic. See links below for more details.

If you do not have insurance or cannot pay the fee, you can still get services.
