NYPD Introduces Ford Hybrids to Patrol Fleet
The New York City Police Department recently deployed the first 30 of 102 Ford Fusion Hybrid alternative fuel vehicles for use as marked patrol cars. The Ford Fusions will be used on patrol in all five boroughs.

City Up for Municipal Excellence Award
New York City is one of 44 finalists for the National League of Cities (NLC) 2010 Awards for Municipal Excellence. NLC selected the City for the Department of Consumer Affairs' Financial Empowerment Centers, which provide free one-on-one professional financial counseling to City residents.

HRA Connects Clients with Jobs in Growth Industries
The Human Resources Administration (HRA) has developed a new approach to helping clients obtain professional training and jobs. The program, called the Cooperative Employment Program, analyzes hiring trends to find industries where entry-level jobs are growing and where HRA clients have been successful.

Eighty Percent of Restaurants Achieving A and B Grades
Some 250 restaurants have now completed NYC's new two-step process for sanitary inspections, and a tally of their scores shows that many are acing the test. The Health Department announced that 80% have earned A or B grades, while nearly half - 48% - have earned A's.

City Acquires More Land for Watershed Protection
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently announced the purchase of 1,323 acres of upstate land for $7.8 million. The acquisition is the latest purchase in the City's effort to protect the upstate watershed and maintain the outstanding quality of NYC drinking water.
