Names New Transportation Commissioner
 
Mayor Bloomberg appoints Janette Sadik-Khan as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT).  Ms. Sadik-Khan will oversee an agency with more than 4,400 employees and a budget of over $600 million per year, and will be responsible for managing much of the City’s transportation infrastructure, including 5,800 miles of city streets and highways, 790 bridges and 6 tunnels.   Ms. Sadik-Kahn will officially assume her post on May 14th.
