Swears in New Class of 1,249 NYPD Recruits
 
Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly swore in a new class of 1,249 New York City Police Department recruits. The recruits begin formal Police Academy training this week. This is the first large class to enter the Police Academy since the beginning of the national recession.
