Settlement Reached For NYC Teachers
 
Mayor Bloomberg, United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, and Chancellor Klein announce that a tentative agreement has been reached between the city and the UFT. The deal includes a 15% pay raise for teachers in exchange for a variety of reforms, including increasing the time teachers spend on instruction, improving school safety, and empowering principals by extending their authority over teacher hiring.
