Transforming Vacant Lots into Affordable Homes
 
Mayor Bloomberg announces that the City will sell off the last of its vacant lots across New York to build affordable housing at an event in East New York. The City will give first priority to developers who commit to building more affordable housing than the required minimum. Overall, 248 vacant lots will be transformed into 3,200 units of affordable housing citywide.

Overall, 248 vacant lots will be transformed into 3,200 units of affordable housing citywide.
Mayor Bloomberg was joined by William Roberts, who owns 439 Pennsylvania Avenue, a home that he and his family purchased in May 2004.  Originally from Guyana, the Roberts family was able to purchase a home through the Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s homeownership program.
