Bill Signing Granting the Expansion of Jacob K.Javits Convention Center

Mayor Bloomberg and Assembly Speaker Silver today joined Governor Pataki as he signed into law legislation that authorizes the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The expansion will nearly double the Convention Center’s capacity, creating thousands of new jobs and enabling NYC to compete for hundreds of events - and millions of dollars in economic activity - now lost to other cities. The new law empowers the New York Convention Center Development Corporation to plan and design the new facilities, enter into construction agreements, and issue bonds to finance the project.
