Announces the Lowest Fire Fatalities in City History
 
Mayor Bloomberg and Fire Commissioner Cassano announced today that in 2009 the city experienced 73 civilian fire deaths, the lowest number ever recorded.  The previous low occurred in 1919 when 77 deaths occurred.
