Completion of Excavation of 2nd Stage of Water Tunnel No. 3
 
Mayor Bloomberg travels 550 feet underground at the announcement the completion of the Manhattan leg of City water tunnel No. 3. When fully operational in 2012, City Tunnel No. 3 will nearly double the 1.2 billion gallons per day capacity of the City’s water supply system, ensuring the continued delivery of safe, clean drinking water to future generations of New Yorkers.
