Neighborhoods Count
The Department of City Planning has completed 100 area-wide rezonings covering one-fifth of the City and over 8,400 blocks. These rezonings are a "smart growth" blueprint which will shape the city for decades to come by channeling growth to transit-rich areas while protecting the scale of low-density neighborhoods.

Historic Documents from the City of New York
City Hall Library maintains a collection of approximately 250,000 agency reports and studies dating back to 1913. The Municipal Archives preserves and makes available the historical records of New York City municipal government, dating from the early 17th century to the present. This also includes historic birth, death, and marriage certificates.

The Dept. of Citywide Administrative Services holds regular auto, real estate, and city surplus auctions; the Police Department holds auctions for unclaimed property; and the Sheriff holds auctions for vehicles and seized property.

Government Reports and Studies
Local Law 11 of 2003 requires that all City agencies post publications to the Department of Records Web site. An additional 250,000 items (some dating back to the 17th century) are housed at City Hall Library, which has been the repository for City reports and studies since 1913.
