Bruce Virginia, Sr. Consultant to The Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation joins us to discuss the training programs to support our high school student-athletes and the NYCDOE C.H.A.M.P.S. Extended Day Program. Joining the conversation will be Rich Kosik, an Instructional Supervisor with SASF and the PSAL student-athlete seminar leader, as he lends his expertise on the subject area. Mr. Kosik is a nationally recognized advocate for student-athletes and motivational speaker, retired teacher, coach, dean, and recruiter for the New York City Alternative High Schools. Mr. Kosik has also served as the Academic Director with the ABCD All America Hoops Program and is a fervent basketball aficionado. Then we���ll hear from Grady HS football coach Andrew Jashyn on the benefits that The Schools & Arts in Schools Foundation has provided to his school.

Coach of the Year, Shawn O���Connor from the title winning Lincoln HS Railsplitters, Player of the Year, RB/DB Kareem Folkes and All-City QB Jessel Jones visit with us to break down the 2011 title campaign on our annual PSAL Football Championship Review Spectacular on the Award Winning "On the Sidelines" with Vinny Aceto, Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM.

Our guests will bring you into the Lincoln HS football locker room and give you their inner most thoughts on their long journey from training camp right up to the championship clash against Erasmus Hall HS at Yankee Stadium and eventually winning the school���s first football title since 1993. The cathedral of baseball in the South Bronx turned into a football field of dreams for the school from Coney Island. With the student-athletes of the PSAL taking regents, the basketball regular season goes on hiatus for a week. Yet, we���ll keep the ol��� roundball bouncing chatting about the city game on another must listen edition of the Award Winning "On the Sidelines" with Vinny Aceto, Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM.

We���ll continue to follow Boys��� ���A��� basketball in the PSAL with Jennifer Agosto (New Utrecht HS). The ���A��� division sometimes gets lost in the limelight of the more publicized ���AA,��� Division we���ll try to change that. Agosto, a two sport star (softball and basketball) at both Midwood HS and Hunter College, will discuss the challenges and highlights of coaching boys in the competitive Brooklyn ���A��� South Division. In addition, Everett Kelley (Westinghouse HS) joins us to confer about the struggles of playing in one of the top high school basketball divisions in the country, the Brooklyn ���AA.���

Hoops Hysteria Returns

From the home office for Public High School Sports���the PSAL fall season finally concluded with the crowning of the PSAL Football City Champions from Coney Island. It���s another must listen Football Friday Edition of the Award Winning "On the Sidelines" with Vinny Aceto, Friday, December 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

Shaun O���Connor (Lincoln HS) drops by to talk about the Railsplitters thrilling 20-12 city championship victory over Erasmus Hall HS at Yankee Stadium, completing a perfect season and capturing the school���s first title since 1993. O���Connor was rewarded with the New York Jets��� 2011 High School Coach of the Year honors. The award, in its 16th year, is given to coaches in the tri-state area who serve the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Domenic M. Recchia, Jr., the City Council Member for the 47th District, which comprises Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Brighton Beach and Coney Island, joins us to discuss his passionate advocacy for education and athletics. He is also the chairman of the City Council���s Committee on Finance.

In addition, Lincoln assistant football coach Ken Chapman and Shaun Williams (the father of former Lincoln All-American Ishaq, now playing at Notre Dame) join the conversion on this championship season, the recruiting process and coaching.

Public High School Football City Championship Preview Show
December 2, 2011

It���s all come down to this, Abraham Lincoln HS and Erasmus Hall HS have both survived the long demanding campaign to reach the final football feast of the season. Make sure you make a point to be near your radio for our annual PSAL Football Championship Preview Extravaganza on the Award Winning "On the Sidelines" with Vinny Aceto, Friday, December 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM and re-broadcast Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

Fifty-one schools started in the heat of August with title aspirations and only two remain standing for the right to be hailed as City Champions. Next Tuesday���s City Championship Clash will be played at Yankee Stadium, where the Cathedral of Baseball turns into a Football Field of Dreams when top seeded Abraham Lincoln HS squares off against fifth seeded Erasmus Hall HS on December 6th at 5 PM. The top seeded Railsplitters (12-0 overall) return for their second consecutive visit to the big game, while the fifth seeded Dutchmen (9-3) make their first trip to the title tilt in the top division since the league went to this championship format in 1971.

Our story begins in the Borough of Kings and we���ll preview ���The Battle of Brooklyn in the Bronx��� with head coaches Shawn O���Connor (Lincoln) and Danny Landberg (Erasmus) as they visit with us to give their perspective on ���The Road to Yankee Stadium���.

In addition, Adam Salazar, Executive Producer/Director of ���City Gridiron��� joins us to converse about the show that everyone is talking about. ���City Gridiron��� airs Sunday mornings at 11 AM on WPIX-Channel 11. Season Three features, Lincoln and Erasmus Hall, the two participants in this year���s championship contest.

From the home office for Public High School Sports���The Road to Yankee Stadium has a pair of semi-final pit stops in Brooklyn and Staten Island this weekend as the PSAL Football Championship Division post season has reached the final-four phase. As usual we���ll evaluate last week���s quarter-final results and not overlook the Bowl or the Cup title match-ups, plus look ahead to the penultimate weekend of the 2011 crusade on another PSAL Playoff Football Friday Matters edition of the Award Winning "On the Sidelines" with Vinny Aceto, Friday, November 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

We kick off your holiday football festival with a stroll down the sidelines with Alex Best, the founding father of high school sports on WNYE Radio. The former play-by-play voice and host of ���Sports Desk Live��� will be on hand to reminisce about their 23rd anniversary of covering live events for the station.

Meanwhile, De Witt Clinton HS makes their first visit to the last four in the top flight of PSAL football since 1989. Head Coach Howard Langley joins us to talk about the Governors campaign and their meeting with top seeded Lincoln. Coincidently, twenty-three Thanksgiving���s ago that same matchup was the first game Aceto and Best reported on for WNYE.

Then Marcus Louison of August Martin HS visits with us to chat about his playing days at Lafayette HS and previews the Bowl title game, while Matt Ciquera of South Shore HS drops by to discuss the Vikings rise and their Cup Final encounter with McKee-Staten Island Tech.
