TV INTERVIEW SERIES PROFILES REACHES 300TH EPISODE MILESTONE ON NYC LIFE
 
February 21, 2013 - The celebrity interview program Profiles hosted by Mickey Burns celebrates its 300th episode milestone on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:30pm on NYC life (Channel 25). The special episode will feature highlights from interviews over the course of its 300 episodes that will include: Smokey Robinson, Joan Rivers, Tony Orlando, Dick Cavett, La Toya Jackson, Jesse Ventura, Mayim Bialik, Tia and Tamera Mowry, Aaron Neville and many more.

City���s Official Network Earns Nominations in Arts and Informational Categories
February 6, 2013 - NYC Media, the official television network of the City of New York, is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for four New York Emmy Awards. The 56th Annual New York Emmy Awards, which recognize outstanding content in the industry, will be presented on Sunday, April 14.

December 7, 2012 - Food.Curated. – which can be seen Thursdays at 8:30pm on NYC life (Channel 25) – has won a Taste Award, which celebrates the best in food, fashion and lifestyle programs. The series, hosted and created by Liza de Guia, provides a window into the lives and passions of local food artisans, farmers, fishermen and chefs as they share their stories about the origins of good food. 


NEW PSA ENCOURAGES LOCALS TO HELP FELLOW NEW YORKERS IN NEED FOLLOWING HURRICANE SANDY
November 14, 2012 - In an effort to help local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy, a new PSA encourages New Yorkers to lend a help by visiting www.NYC.gov or by donating to the Mayor���s Fund to Advance New York City. The PSA, which features Mayor Bloomberg, is currently running on NYC life (Channel 25) as well as the City���s radio station 91.5FM. It will also be available to view in taxi cabs.

October 25, 2012 - Secrets of New York is back on NYC life (Channel 25) with an all new special just in time for Halloween! Premiering Tuesday, October 30 at 8:30pm, Secrets of New York: Captains, Pirates and Ghosts follows host Kelly Choi as she explores the South Street Seaport, uncovers the truth about sea pirates like Captain Kidd who made Manhattan their home and searches for ghosts in the oldest tavern in the City.

August 2, 2012 - NYC Media, the official network of the City of New York, and WNET, which is currently celebrating the 50th anniversary of THIRTEEN, have announced a new partnership in which both television providers will share content with each other, highlighting different aspects of the City. In the coming weeks, NYC life, the flagship station of NYC Media, will broadcast episodes of Treasures of New York and MetroFocus while WNET and WLIW will air NYC life’s special about City parks as part of Treasures of New York.  


HARLEM SKYSCRAPER CYCLING CLASSIC RACE TO BE HELD ON FATHER’S DAY, JUNE 17, 2012, AND TELEVISED LIVE ON NYC LIFE, CHANNEL 25

Harlem’s Marcus Garvey Park is the stage where some of the world’s supreme professional cyclists, including two time Tour de France stage winner Leo Van Bon of Holland, will compete for the thrill of winning the City’s most exhilarating bike race: The Harlem Skyscrapper Cycling Classic.  The Classic is an official USA Cycling Criterium Calendar race and the longest tenured tradition on this year’s schedule. The country’s most competitive teams will weave their way through the park with the hopes of rolling into the winner’s circle and the top of the national leader-board.  This spectacle can be experienced in person on June 17 or watched live for the third consecutive year on NYC life, Channel 25, from 4-6pm. NYC life is the flagship station of NYC Media, the official network of the City of New York.

“The City is really excited to be a part of this special event for the third straight year,” said Todd Asher, First Deputy Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment. “Events like this, which highlight the community and healthy living, are an important part of our mission, and we are proud to make this race accessible to so many New Yorkers on NYC life.”

April 27, 2012 - City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, Council Members and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) today announced that live coverage of City Council hearings will be available on New York City’s government television station, NYC gov, and online at http://council.nyc.gov starting May 1, 2012. This will make New York City the largest municipality to carry live legislative hearings.

April 16, 2012 - After many years of providing international programming, RAI Italian has decided they are no longer able to maintain their presence on NYC life (Channel 25). While we are disappointed to lose RAI as a partner, we continue to air a variety of global news shows and are currently seeking new opportunities to showcase perspectives from around the world.

April 2, 2012 - NYC Media, the official television network of the City of New York, has won three New York Emmy Awards. The 55th Annual New York Emmy Awards took place on April 1 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.


NYC ISSUES REQUEST FOR PROPSALS TO ESTABLISH THE "MADE IN NY" MEDIA CENTER 
March 27, 2012 - In an effort to build on and expand the City���s thriving entertainment industry and bridge it to new opportunities in digital media, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, in connection with the Mayor���s Office of Media and Entertainment, will issue a request for proposals for an operator and physical space to establish the ���Made in NY��� Media Center. The media center will provide media entrepreneurs with affordable workspace and serve as a central meeting place where traditional media companies and new media entrepreneurs can meet, interact and collaborate. It will host educational workshops and training sessions catered to segments across the media industry and intended to encourage the type of cross-sector learning and creative cooperation that will ensure that the media industry is well-positioned for the digital age. It will also support new businesses in the field of emerging media, like interactive entertainment, digital advertising and mobile apps, by providing high-quality, ready-to-use office space that will accommodate numerous companies and a variety of employees. The space will also include conference rooms, production office space and a screening room.

March 21, 2012 - Scenarios USA, the national non-profit organization that uses writing and film to foster youth leadership, advocacy and self-expression in students across the country, brings its Spoken Word series to NYC life (Channel 25) beginning on March 23. Scenarios USA’s Spoken Stories is a collection of raw and revealing short films written by talented young writers who are teamed up with Hollywood and independent film directors.
